When an air energy heat pump operates, it consumes a small amount of electricity and absorbs free heat energy from the air through the work of the compressor. Specifically, its operation is based on the heat pump cycle principle. Firstly, the outdoor unit uses the compressor to draw in the low-temperature air into the system and exchanges heat with the refrigerant in the evaporator. When the refrigerant changes from liquid to gas, it absorbs the heat energy from the air. Then, the heat pump pressurizes the refrigerant through the compressor to increase its temperature. The high-temperature refrigerant contacts the heat exchanger indoors to heat the indoor air. Finally, after releasing heat through the condenser, the refrigerant turns back into liquid and returns to the evaporator to continue the cycle. This cycle repeats continuously, constantly absorbing heat from the air and releasing heat at the water-side heat exchanger to produce hot water, transferring the heat to the water. Finally, the heat in the water is transferred to the room through floor heating, radiators or fan coil units, etc., to increase the indoor temperature.

In summer, the heat pump main unit produces chilled water, which is released into the room through the fan coil unit to reduce the indoor temperature.

The key to this energy-saving principle is that it does not directly convert electrical energy into heat energy to heat water or air, but utilizes the heat energy in the air, equivalent to "transporting" the heat from the environment, thereby greatly improving the energy utilization efficiency. Compared to traditional electric heating or gas heating methods, it can significantly save energy consumption. For example, Haier air energy heat pumps that adopt DC inverter technology and vapor injection enthalpy increase technology can operate efficiently at -25°C and at the same time obtain more than three times the heat energy for indoor use. The energy efficiency can reach more than 300%. Compared to electric heating, it can save 75% of the cost, and compared to gas heating, it can save 50% of the cost.

In addition, different models of Haier air energy heat pumps may also adopt some specific energy-saving technologies and designs to further improve their energy-saving effects. For example, some products use an infinitely variable intelligent control all-DC inverter heating system, an all-dimensional superconducting heat exchange system, intelligent self-cleaning technology, and optimized refrigerants and compressors, etc. These technologies and designs help to improve heat exchange efficiency, reduce operating resistance, and reduce heat loss, thereby achieving better energy-saving performance.
